Cabin

Painted Desert Outlaw Cabin

  • 2 Guests
  • 1 Bedroom

The Outlaw Cabin has one queen size bed. There is no running water, there is a pit toilet outside. We do not provide any blankets, sheets, towels, or toilet paper. You should bring everything you might need especially water!

This is a rustic, off-grid cabin with NO indoor plumbing. The Outlaw Cabin was built in the late 60's and early 70's by an outlaw while he tried to avoid capture for numerous offenses. When the law caught up with him here, he would run to New Mexico where he had a second hideout up on the Continental Divide in Catron County. If the law caught up with him there, he would jump the border to Mexico and stay with his girlfriend. We do not share the name of the Outlaw Cabin’s original owner in order to protect the identity of the not-so-innocent.

Katzenmeyer Real-Estate is a small family operation that has grown over the years to include multiple properties. Most of the properties have been acquired by happenstance with no real plan of action. Almost all of the properties were either abandoned, condemned, or in general disrepair. Each property has it's own unique history and story.
